You may know Esther from her stand-out role as Maya on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She’s also appeared on shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Love, Shrill, and Parks and Recreation.
Esther tours frequently as a stand-up comedian and is a reliably funny guest on podcasts and web series. Look out for the new stand-up special Esther recently taped for Comedy Central Presents and if you like it, be sure to text Esther’s mom.
Her dry, quip-heavy sense of humor often plays with being a regular person in Hollywood’s superficial culture. Esther brilliantly leaned into these themes when she created and starred in Alone Together — a 2015 short film that she expanded into a tv series.
Produced by Andy Samberg’s The Lonely Island production company, Alone Together follows two best friends as they navigate the “vain and status-obsessed” side of Los Angeles. The show ran for two seasons on Freeform and is available to stream on Hulu. (trailer)
Esther also hosts the web series Cocktales which features silly chats about sex with female comedians like Alison Becker, Eliza Skinner, and Tiffany Haddish.
Esther is currently set to star alongside Kat Dennings in the upcoming Hulu series Dollface. “After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, a woman (Dennings) tries to reconnect with the friends she lost during the relationship.”
The show looks fun and magically weird and we can’t wait to see more of Esther on-screen!
