Aparna Nancherla is a comedian, writer, and performer you should know.

Aparna is featured in this week’s Meet a Funny Person newsletter — if you want a new funny person in your inbox every week, subscribe here >

Her comedy is densely-packed with ideas and experiences that she relates through a smart, wry, and occasionally absurdist lens.

You’ve probably seen Aparna on shows like Crashing, Corporate, and Master of None. Or maybe you’ve heard her voice on a variety of animated series including Steven Universe, Bob’s Burgers, or BoJack Horseman where she delivers a sweetly endearing and vulnerable performance as BoJack’s alleged daughter Hollyhock.

Aparna has performed standup on Colbert, James Corden, 2 Dope Queens, Conan, and many other shows. In 2016, she released her first comedy album Just Putting It Out There.

Aparna was also a writer on both Totally Biased with W. Kumau Bell and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

She co-hosts the Refinery 29 series Womanhood — a talk show where Aparna and fellow comedian Jo Firestone “provide absurdist advice on how-to ‘adult’.”
